About the three-hour minimum

A three-hour minimum is standard for local movers, and we would rather explain it than bury it.

  1. A crew and truck are committed to your job for the day, whether the work takes one hour or five.
  2. Billing starts when the crew arrives at your pickup address and ends when the last item is placed.
  3. If your move finishes in under three hours, the three-hour minimum still applies.
  4. After the minimum, time is billed in the increments stated on your written estimate.
  5. Labor-only jobs carry their own three-hour minimum at the labor-only rate.

Why D-Seekers

Moving day should be the boring part of your week.

How a move goes is decided long before anything gets carried out the door. The arrival window you were given. The blanket that went around the dresser. The runner down your hallway. We do those things the same way every time, on every job.

Local knowledge

Buffalo streets, Buffalo winters, Buffalo walk-ups. We know what your building is going to ask of us.

How it works

Five steps, in this order

Submitting a request does not reserve a date. Here is exactly what does.

  1. You send your move details

Use the estimate form, or call and tell us. The more detail on stairs, access, and heavy items, the more accurate your number.

  2. We review the move

We look at size, distance, access, and equipment, and we come back with questions if anything is unclear.

  3. We confirm availability

We check crew and truck availability for your date and your alternative date.

  4. You accept the written estimate

You get the rate, the minimum, and any additional charges in writing. Nothing is booked until you say yes.

  5. Your date is reserved

Once the service terms are completed and any required deposit is paid, the date is yours.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What does the three-hour minimum actually mean?

Your job is billed for at least three hours at your quoted hourly rate, even if the work finishes sooner. The crew and truck are committed to you for that block. Time past three hours is billed in the increments listed on your written estimate.

When does the clock start and stop?

Billing starts when the crew arrives at your pickup address and stops when the last item is placed at your delivery address. Your written estimate states this in full.

Do you do long-distance or out-of-state moves?

Not at this time. We are focused on local moving in Buffalo and Western New York.

Do you offer storage?

We do not store customer belongings. We do move items into and out of storage units, and storage-unit moves are one of our regular services.

What is labor-only moving?

You supply the rental truck, trailer, moving container, or storage unit, and we supply two movers to load or unload it. It starts at $119 per hour with a three-hour minimum.

Can you move a single item?

Yes. Single-item moves, furniture pickup and delivery, and appliance delivery start at $295 and are usually quoted as a custom flat rate based on distance, size, weight, stairs, and access.

Do you take furniture apart and put it back together?

Yes, basic disassembly and reassembly is part of what we do. Tell us which pieces on your estimate request so we bring the right tools and allow the right time.

Can you come today or tomorrow?

Same-day and next-day service may be available depending on crew, truck, and equipment availability. It is never guaranteed. Call or text to check.

Does submitting the form book my move?

No. The form is a request for an estimate. Your date is reserved only after we review the details, confirm availability, you accept the written estimate, the service terms are completed, and any required deposit is paid.

Are you licensed and insured?

D-Seekers Moving & Logistics is properly authorized and insured to provide the moving services advertised. We will provide documentation on request.

What do you need to know to give an accurate price?

Bedroom count, stairs at both ends, elevator access, where the truck can park and how far that is from the door, heavy or oversized items, and whether you will be packed before we arrive. Photos help more than anything else.
